Definitions
- Service means the Layr Digital website at layr.digital.
- Personal Data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual.
- Usage Data means data collected automatically when using the Service, such as IP address, browser type and version, pages visited, and time spent.
- Cookies means small files stored on your device to operate and secure the Service.
Collecting and Using Your Personal Data
While using the Service, we may ask you to provide certain personally identifiable information, including:
- Account details: name, email address, password, and account type.
- Profile content you submit: headline, location, resume links, experience, education history, certifications, and credential references.
- Application materials: cover notes, resume snapshots, and application statuses.
- Employer content you publish: company profiles, job postings, and work-site information.
- Security records: login sessions, trusted-device tokens, one-time verification codes, and password-reset tokens.
- Device information: browser type, operating system, language, timezone, and screen size, used for trusted-device sign-in.
- Uploads: profile photos and logos you choose to upload.
Usage Data
Usage Data is collected automatically and may include your device's Internet Protocol address, browser type and version, the pages you visit, the time and date of your visit, and diagnostic data. We use it to secure the platform, limit abuse, and troubleshoot the Service. It is kept in memory for short operational windows and is not stored as part of your profile.
Use of Your Personal Data
We use Personal Data to operate accounts and sign-in (including two-factor verification); to display profiles, certifications, and applications to employers you apply to; to publish employer content you choose to make public; to send transactional emails such as verification codes, reset links, and notifications; and to maintain the security and reliability of the Service. We do not sell Personal Data.
Transfer of Your Personal Data
Your information is processed on our servers and by infrastructure, email-delivery, and cloud-storage providers working on our behalf, which may be located in other countries. We take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place. Content you publish (company profiles, jobs, uploaded images served by public link) is public by design.
Disclosure of Your Personal Data
We disclose Personal Data where the Service requires it: with employers you apply to; with service providers bound to process it only as instructed; with single sign-on providers if you choose social login; through optional lookup features your browser contacts directly (such as the location lookup that pins your country in lists, which receives technical identifiers like your IP address); and where required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.
Security and Retention of Your Personal Data
Passwords are stored as one-way hashes and one-time secrets are stored hashed. Sessions and verification artifacts expire automatically (login sessions around 30 days, device tokens around 180 days, codes within minutes, reset links within the hour). Deleting your account also deletes your profile, applications, certifications, and sessions. Contact us to remove stored images. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we use commercially reasonable protections including encrypted connections and signed, HTTP-only cookies.
Cookies
We use strictly-necessary cookies for sign-in and security, a preferences cookie, a device-recognition cookie, and a country cookie that remembers your region so nearby roles rank first — clear site data to remove it. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Disable cookies and sign-in features will stop working.
Your Data Protection Rights
Depending on where you live — including under Nigeria's NDPR and, where applicable, the GDPR/UK GDPR — you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your Personal Data, to object to or restrict processing, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. You can view and edit most data in-app at any time, delete your account from settings, or contact us with any request and we will respond within applicable legal timeframes.
Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their Personal Data. Accounts found to belong to children will be removed.
Links to Other Websites
The Service contains links to third-party sites (employers, credential issuers, universities). We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised date.
